Day 45

Day 45

Another day of installing lagging. Today the crew focused on the northwest corner of the lot, which is where the driveway will slope down. No dirt was exported today. The phone and cable companies came out today to start moving their lines off the utility pole to the new underground conduits. They will be back...
Day 44

Day 44

The shoring guys were here again on a Saturday. The east wall is to within a few inches of the final excavation depth, which is great news. On the down side, no word from the electric company yet about timing for the pole removal… All fees have been paid, documents have been signed, and various...
Day 43

Day 43

The excavation depth was increased a bit more along the far north (furthest from the camera) and south (closest to the camera) slopes, on both the east and west walls. Three truckloads of dirt were exported. Dirt export truck-load total: 194 loads.
Day 42

Day 42

Not much to say about what happened today… More lagging along the east wall and 24 truckloads of dirt exported. The center portion of the east wall is getting pretty close to the final depth. Hopefully the utility pole will be gone next week and the excavation guys can finally excavate the 15 foot safe...
Day 41

Day 41

The trench that was made down the neighbor’s driveway, in order to underground their utilities, was finally patched today. It was really great of the neighbor’s to allow us to move their utilities, as I’m sure it was a headache for them. On the plus side, one of the neighbor’s took advantage of the open...
Day 40

Day 40

A little more lagging along the west wall was placed and a whole lot of dirt was removed… 31 truck loads, to be more precise. The neighbor’s driveway was prepared for the asphalt patch guys, who will be here tomorrow. Dirt export truck-load total: 163 loads.
Day 39

Day 39

Most of the on-site work today happened on the west wall, where the excavated depth was increased and additional lagging was put in place. Six loads of dirt left the site today. Dirt export truck-load total: 132 loads.
Day 38

Day 38

It Saturday, and the job is moving forward! I’m sure this is just first of many weekend workdays. My shoring/excavation/concrete contractor had two guys here today increasing the lagging depth along the east wall (right side of video). No dirt was exported today. This week I will take some photos from ground level of the...
Day 37

Day 37

More dirt was moved away from the east wall (right side of the video) so that more lagging could be installed. The deepest section is now 8ft, which is just over half of the 15ft it will be when the the excavation is done. No dirt was exported today. Dirt export truck-load total: 126 loads....
Day 36

Day 36

Today was pretty slow on our construction site, since most of my contractor’s crew was focused on the sidewalk and driveway next door. These needed to be re-poured because they were removed yesterday to allow them to finish the underground utility conduits. The only real on-site work was to increase the depth of the excavation...
Day 35

Day 35

An amazing amount of progress was made today! The lagging crew managed to finish almost all of the west wall (left side of video) leading up to the utility pole. In addition, 15 loads of dirt were taken off the site. Good progress is also being made on moving the neighbors’ utilities underground. The street...
Day 34

Day 34

The entire east wall (right side of video) now has lagging for the exposed earth, and the crew has moved on to the west side. One the west wall, four sections of lagging were completed. Even though the focus was lagging, five loads of dirt were exported today. The Caterpillar 312B L Hydraulic Excavator was...
