Excavation
Day 33

Day 33

Another day of mostly installing lagging, although two truck-loads of dirt were taken away. Most of the east wall (right side of the video) has lagging for the exposed earth and more will be added as we dig deeper. Dirt export truck-load total: 106 loads.
Day 32

Day 32

More lagging was placed along the east wall today, and three loads of dirt were removed. The export of dirt will continue to be a bit slow until most of the walls are protected. Dirt export truck-load total: 104 loads.
Day 29

Day 29

The lagging is now scheduled for June 2nd, which is one day later than we were initially told… but, my excavation contractor didn’t want the site just sitting there. We had a very small crew at the site today, and managed to remove another 4 truck loads of dirt – bringing the current total to...
Day 28

Day 28

Another day of excavation, with 28 truck loads leaving – bringing us to 97 loads of dirt that have been exported from the site… or about 1/3 of the way done. After today the excavation will be put on hold until the lagging is delivered, as we are at the 4ft maximum vertical cut that...
Day 27

Day 27

Not a whole lot to say about excavation at this point… just more dirt going away. Today we had 30 truckloads leave. I also found a nearby location that wants our dirt, so hopefully we can work out a deal with them before the dirt is all gone and we can save a bit on...
Day 26

Day 26

Another 23 truckloads of dirt left today, and it still looks like nothing has really happened… but, given that we are only about 15% of the way through excavation the site looks as it should. The lagging was ordered today, so it should arrive mid next week. 190 pieces of 4×12 that are each 12ft...
Time to Excavate!

Time to Excavate!

Day 25 and the dirt can finally go! Yup, that means excavation started today, which is a big step. It doesn’t look like much happened, but about 160 CY (cubic yards) of dirt was removed … or 16 truck loads. Not bad considering there were only four trucks today. Why only 4? Well, the wood...
