The temporary power pole was delivered and installed today, but it will not be inspected until Monday since the city is closed every Friday. I drove down to Torrance to pay Edison for connection and disconnection fees for the temporary pole and called the Edison customer service line to establish my service account. After the city approves the install, they will notify Edison and 4-5 days later a work crew will come out to connect power to the temporary pole. I’m still amazed with how many entities, departments within the entities, and people within the departments that are involved in the smallest, and seemingly routine, tasks.

The shoring guys spent the day doing more prep work for the drill rig, which should be on the site near the middle of next week – although shoring will not start until May 9th. The east pile spots were off by 3ft, which is less than I thought – but still good that we noticed today. Most of today’s prep work was exploratory excavations at each pile location to make sure there are no surprises for the 24″ auger bit. We are looking good so far – if you ignore the giant utility pole that is in our way…
